始觉

(始覺, 始觉)

The initial functioning of mind or intelligence as a process of 'becoming', arising from [lang id =1028]本覺 which is Mind or Intelligence, self-contained, unsullied, and considered as universal, the source of all enlightenment. The 'initial intelligence' or enlightenment arises from the inner influence [lang id =1028]薰 of the Mind and from external teaching. In the 'original intelligence' are the four values adopted and made transcendent by the <Nirvāṇa-sūtra>, viz. [lang id =1028]常, [lang id =1028]樂, [lang id =1028]我, [lang id =1028]淨 Perpetuity, joy, personality, and purity; these are acquired through the [lang id =1028]始覺 process of enlightenment. Cf.
